Frequently Asked Questions

In short, yes. Reusable nappies are considered better for the environment for the following reasons.

  1. Reduced Waste: They generate less waste compared to disposable nappies.
  2. Lower Resource Consumption: They require fewer raw materials and energy to produce.
  3. Energy Savings: Despite washing, cloth nappies often have a lower overall energy footprint.
  4. Chemical and Toxin-Free: They typically do not contain harmful additives found in a lot of disposable nappies.

Cloth nappies have several benefits for your baby.

  1. Less Irritation: Our cloth nappies are free from the chemicals and fragrances that can be found in some disposable nappies, reducing the risk of skin irritation.
  2. Breathability: Our nappies are more breathable than disposables, which can help in reducing nappy rash and keeping your baby's skin dry.

Although the initial cost of cloth nappies may seem high, they prove more cost-effective in the long term, especially when considering that they can be used for multiple children.

An average baby undergoes around 6,000 nappy changes before potty training. A set of 24 of our cloth nappies costs just under $700, whereas disposables can add up to approximately $2,400 for just one child. While this hasn't taken into consideration water, electricity, or detergent expenses, this substantial difference demonstrates the potential for significant savings.

The number of nappies you'll need depends on various factors, including your intended usage (casual, part-time or full-time). Below are our recommended quantities as a general guideline. However, keep in mind that your requirements may vary based on your baby's age, desired washing frequency and the need for extra backups. You can gradually build your stash to suit your individual needs.

It's easy. You simply 'plop' any solids you can into the toilet, then give a light rinse in the laundry sink if required before popping it in the dry pail. It's really that easy!

*Did you know, before binning disposables, you're actually meant to remove solid waste from them too?

Not at all! Quite the opposite actually. Often if your MCH nurse is concerned about your baby's hips, they'll recommend using cloth nappies, or at least putting them over a disposable to provide more support to the hips.
